This is where our “notice of intended marriage” was posted nearly 25 years ago. Such notice was required by Scottish law back then...not sure it is anymore. I can tell you I felt very royal to see my name up there in a place so far from my home.

The name is first recorded as Mowel around 1270 AD, and is believed to derive from either the Anglo-Saxon Mūga-hyll, meaning "heap-hill", with copp = "head" added later, or the Common Celtic ancestor of Welsh moel (= hill), with Anglo-Saxon copp added later.[3]
At the village's summit, men once quarried stone to make into querns, used since the Iron Age for milling corn; this trade ended during the Victorian period. The village also has a long history of coal mining.

The charming little sleepy town of Maryport. Spent a fantastic day there with husband and little brother. The sky was exceptional that day and added so much to the scenery.

The London Eye is a treat to experience, giving a view of the city that would be difficult to attain from any other vantage point. It was a shame they didn't keep the glass cleaner when we were there. This shot was from Westminster Bridge and I had the incredible good fortune to have the black backed gull fly into my shot and the shutter release was at the perfect moment. Yes it is definitely real!

In the hazy days at summer's end
When the air's still warm and the green near spent
When the days grow short and the evenings tall,
Then you feel in a whisper, FALL ~Laura Jawarsky

Hermitage is a fairy tale castle hidden in the beautiful borders of Scotland.
About 29 years ago I felt like I had fallen into someone else's fairytale. I had traveled to the borders of Scotland from the States often in the previous few years, and made several amazing friends there. Through them I met the man I was now on the way to marry.
We all know that no one's life is a fairytale everyday, but since that moment, my reality has so often crossed those lines and I am grateful to my British husband for those continued fairytale moments throughout the years.

Texture from Tóta. 27.12.1964. many thanks.
If you are someone inclined to look at exif data you would notice that after 6 years there is a camera change here. I am not one who needs to keep up with the "latest and greatest". My little D610 has served me well and given me many images that I love. However, my eyesight which has been poor since childhood has taken a nosedive over the last couple of years due to retina complications. I found it harder and harder to focus my manual lenses...especially my favorite old 135mm. Even on auto focus I couldn't really see whether my images were acceptable unless I was tethered to my computer and that was rare since I only do a little studio shooting.
For many months I deliberated over whether I could justify the expense...and which Nikon to go for. The D850 images had crazy awesome megapixel stats...but it is heavy and pricey. Then Nikon ran a sale on the D780 and I bit. I am so glad I made the leap...I can see so clearly through the viewfinder, and the live view option as well as the tilting screen have made the chore of shooting into a delight again.
So just as these fresh new ferns signal a new beginning with summer, so my camera switch is providing a fresh approach in my photographic journey.
OH and PS...if anyone with decent eyesight is looking for a perfectly good used D610 cheap, just let me know.

...when Venice belongs to the few. The air is cool, the stones still damp from night, and for a fleeting hour, the city is quiet.
I patiently waited six long years to return, to recapture this feeling of wonder. It is a city like nowhere else on earth, but you have to know when to be there.

Meeting new people is like opening a door to a fresh world of stories, perspectives, and experiences. There is a spark of excitement, a blend of curiosity and anticipation, and the opportunity of discovering shared interests or even unexpected differences. It holds the potential to shape us, leaving new wisdom, kindness, or inspiration.
What a pleasure it was for Mark and me to meet Dustin!
...and of course Herdie enjoyed the visit too...:-))

...both literal and imagined, shape our lives in profound ways. Some stand tall before us—walls of stone, locked doors, oceans vast and uncrossable—physical limits we can see and touch. These barriers are real and immediate, either protecting or limiting. With the right tools, time, or assistance, many physical obstacles can be dismantled, climbed, or circumnavigated. The effort may be great, but the path is clear.
But then there are the barriers we cannot see—the ones we construct in the deep recesses of our minds. These imagined walls are far more complex, woven from threads of fear, doubt, and insecurity. They do not require brick or mortar; they need only the power of our thoughts to stand firm. Unlike physical barriers, which others can see and help us break, these mental constructs are invisible to the outside world. No one knows the depth of our inner struggle, the quiet battle between desire and dread, ambition and hesitation.
Imagined barriers are insidious because they feel just as real as the tangible ones. They whisper that we're not good enough, not capable, not worthy. Or they keep us in fear or resentment of those different from us. And while physical obstacles may tire the body, these internal walls exhaust the soul, trapping us in a maze of our own making. The worst part? Often, we don’t even realize we’ve built them.
Recognizing that these barriers are self-imposed is the first step toward dismantling them. Just as we learn to climb a hill or break through a fence, we can teach ourselves to break through the limits of our minds. Courage is the tool. For every imagined wall, there is a doorway waiting to be found—if only we dare to look for it.
Ultimately, both kinds of barriers test us. Physical walls challenge our strength; mental ones challenge our spirit. But in overcoming either, we find the same reward: the freedom to move forward, unhindered, toward a world without limits.

Too early you were called away
But I will remember
Everything
Everything
To tell it to you someday
You will ask "What did they say?"
I know you will
I know you will
So I will listen carefully
Note each day painstakingly
So that I may tell you all
On that day
On that day
